Lancashire's coronavirus death toll has increased to 2,744 after another 23 people died in hospitals across the county.

In East Lancashire, the Hospital Trust recorded a further 12 coronavirus related deaths, taking the total number of people to have died with the virus since the pandemic began to 812.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals and Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Trust registered five deaths each, with their totals increasing to 627 and 312 respectively.

Just one coronavirus related death was recorded at a facility within the University of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust, and no deaths were registered within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

The death toll within those trusts now stands at 437 and 556 respectively.

Covid-19 is added to a person's death certificate if they have tested positive for the virus within 28 days of dying.

Meanwhile, the number of people in East Lancashire who have contracted the virus since last March has also increased.

To date, the number of positive coronavirus tests registered in each borough is as follows:

Pendle 8,142

Hyndburn 6,321

Rossendale 5,064

Ribble Valley 3,700

The total number of positive tests recorded in East Lancashire since the pandemic began is now 46,322.
