Another 30 coronavirus related deaths have been registered over the weekend, with a third of those coming from hospitals in East Lancashire. 

New data released on Monday afternoon shows that since Friday, 10 more people have lost their lives after testing positive for the coronavirus at facilities managed by the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust.

This means 772 people have now died with the virus, up from 762 on Friday. 

A further eight people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid at hospitals within the University of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust, taking the death toll there to 432, up from 424 on Friday.

In hospitals within Blackpool's Trust, a further six deaths were reported over the weekend, taking the total there to 615 since the start of the pandemic.

And following another four fatalities in facilities managed by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, the tally there stands at 550, increasing from 546 on Friday.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Trust registered another two coronavirus related deaths, meaning their total now stands at 303.

The total number of people to have died within 28 days of testing positive for the virus at hospitals across the county, since the pandemic began almost a year ago, is now 2,672.
