EVERY area across the North-East and North Yorkshire reported a surge in the number of Covid cases in the past week.
One area recorded a 156 per cent increase in the number of new cases, while another saw cases shoot up by almost 1,200 in the past seven days.
It comes as the country is set to see its first weekend under tougher restrictions following the re-introduction of the national lockdown restrictions on Tuesday.

Latest Public Health England data has revealed how all 14 council areas in our region have reported rises in new Covid cases in the past week.
The data, which was made available on January 8, revealed the picture in the week leading to January 3, compared with the week before.

Redcar and Cleveland, Sunderland and Middlesbrough have seen highest increase in the percentage of new cases.
While areas including Gateshead, North Tyneside and Hambleton, have seen the lowest weekly increase.
