POLICE are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dash cam footage after an assault on a taxi driver in Middlesbrough.

The incident happened around 4.45am yesterday (Monday) on Marton Grove Road.

Two men had been passengers in the taxi.

As the men got out of the taxi, one proceeded to punch the driver multiple times in the head and face.

This left the victim with a split lip and ear and bruising to the head and face.

The suspect then made off from the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 25 to 30-years-old, of medium build and around 5ft 6” tall.

Nothing was stolen in the incident.
