PANTO and children’s tv regulars are hoping to bring much-needed cheer to homes across the country with the latest series of Danny & Mick.

Real-life brothers Danny Adams and Mick Potts shot 19 episodes in under three weeks in Covid-secure conditions in a North-East leisure centre, after filming was initially ground to a halt in March during the first national lockdown.

The duo’s third series, filmed during August and September in the North-East, will see the hapless brothers again faced with an array of challenging tasks from their new leisure centre manager Sharon, played by Jocelyn Jee Esien.

Danny, who lives in Newcastle, said: “It’s the perfect time to launch a new series as it’s such a silly slapstick show.

“Kids, and adults, need a good laugh, especially at this time.

“Not only is there mess and ‘pratfalls’, but every inch of the show is milked for gags, with sounds effects and brilliantly composed music.”

The show sees Danny playing a dogsbody in a leisure centre where his brother, Mick, works as a security guard.

Each episode is full of the physical comedy and slapstick humour that the brothers are famous for, some also including their real-life dad, Clive Webb.

The filming is the only work the three have had during the pandemic after cancellation of their Cirque Du Hilarious summer tour and most recently the late postponement of their Christmas panto Robin Hood, at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal.

Danny & Mick, filmed at Newbiggin Leisure Centre, was be re-written with no supporting artists or cameos of children or anoyone aged above 70.

All cast members had to isolate for two weeks before filming.

Some of the cast travelled from London and stayed isolated in hotels during filming as the crew and performers remained in two separate bubbles, with PPE worn during rehearsals and temperature checks taken twice daily.

Tom Beattie, executive producer of Danny & Mick, said: “We are incredibly excited that Danny & Mick is back.

“It is brilliantly funny and the whole Danny & Mick crew have done an amazing job under the filming conditions this year.”

The third series of Danny & Mick will be aired twice a day every weekday at 8.10am and 3.05pm on CBBC, from today.
