THE driver and passenger of this VW Beetle car which was crushed underneath a JCB towing a slurry tanker amazingly escaped serious injury.
Police have appealed for witnesses and information after the crash which closed part of the A19 in North Yorkshire overnight. on Monday.
Fire and rescue teams from Malton, Acomb and York had to cut the car passenger out after the JCB Fastrac ended up on the roof. The driver of the Beetle and the driver of the JCB had managed to get of the vehicles before they arrived.
Crews used stabilisers and hydraulic cutting gear to reach the passenger. He was taken to hospital by paramedics, with non life threatening injuries, The VW driver was also taken to hospital with minor injuries, the JCB driver was not injured. The slurry tanker was damaged which meant a large scale clean up operation to make the A19 at Escrick, near York, safe.
