A POPULAR market will return next weekend with Covid measures in place.

The Quayside Market will make a welcome return in December to help Newcastle celebrate Christmas, but everyone is reminded to closely follow the Covid guidelines.

Newcastle City Council has now put in place the necessary safety measures that will allow it to reopen, which will also help the city get into the festive spirit after such a difficult year.

The market will also be open on a Saturday on the weekends leading up to Christmas to give traders more opportunity to make up for lost time and to reduce the number of visitors each day.

If these and other guidelines aren’t followed, the council will be forced to close the market, at short notice if necessary, as safety remains the priority at all times.

The Quayside Market will open between 9am and 4pm starting on Saturday, December 5 and ending on Sunday, December 20.
