A FAMILY has been left devastated after two dogs were stolen in the night.

The dogs were taken from an address in Scorton, near Richmond, overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

The family, which is offering a reward if the animals are safely returned, discovered they were missing at 8am today.

Owner Robert Crowther said thieves had climbed over the fence and broken into a shed to steal tools before using them to break through the padlock on the doors of the kennel.

The dogs taken are both bitches and are about six years old.
