THE number of new coronavirus cases recorded across Bolton has fallen below 1,000 for the first time in a month.

New figures revealed just 878 new infections were reported across the borough between November 15 and 21.

The week before, 1,272 new cases were reported, with a number of areas seeing infection rates rise.

Now, just one area – Dunscar and Egerton – has not reported a drop in new cases.

Lever Edge reported the most infections in the latest time period, with 48 new cases.

Little Lever was close behind, with 47 new infections, while the next highest infections were seen in Springfield and Great Lever, where 37 new cases were confirmed.

The data has been extracted from a map, which uses figures from Public Health England to detail each confirmed case of coronavirus by Middle Super Output Area, sections of around 7,200 people.

All 35 of Bolton’s neighbourhoods have now reported three or more infections of the virus every week for nearly two months.
