The funeral was held at St Hilda’s Church and West Cemetery this morning.
Durham Police said officers had attended the scene to monitor the situation.
It is understand around 50 people attended West Cemetery following a smaller gathering at the church.
A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “We were made aware of a large funeral which took place in Darlington this morning.
“As we have done throughout the pandemic, officers engaged with organisers prior to the funeral to ensure mourners were given the opportunity to pay their respects, while reminding them of the current regulations around large gatherings.
“Police attended the scene to monitor the situation. After officers engaged with those present, the crowd dispersed and it was not deemed necessary to issue any Fixed Penalty Notices”.
