A FUNERAL home in Wibsey is urging members of the public to donate unused winter coats and other warm clothing to help those in need.

Residents can take coats, hats, scarves, gloves and jumpers that are no longer needed into Co-op Funeralcare on St Helena Road.

The items will then be donated to those in need across Bradford via local good causes including the Sunbridge Road Mission.

Anne-Marie Rawlinson, funeral director, said: “We can all feel the nights getting colder as winter approaches and a coat that is hanging unworn in a cupboard could make a huge difference to someone in need over the coming months.

“Last year, we were able to donate some clothes to a gentleman who had experienced a leak from the flat above him which destroyed a lot of his clothes. Our donations meant he had some clean, dry clothes at a time when he couldn’t afford to replace them himself.

“The Mission is also able to distribute the clothes to those who are sleeping on the streets over winter and who will appreciate the extra layer as the weather gets colder.”

Coats and other items of warm clothing such as hats, scarves and jumpers can be taken to Co-op Funeralcare during its usual opening hours, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
