THERE have been nearly 900 additional coronavirus cases since the weekend across the North-East and North Yorkshire.
The Government said a further 206 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 55,230.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 71,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
The Government said that, as of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 15,450 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,527,495.

- North Tyneside: 6,349 was 6,286, an increase of 63
- North Yorkshire: 12,614 was 12,499, an increase of 115
- Northumberland: 7,861 was 7,793, an increase of 68
- Redcar and Cleveland: 4,332 was 4,307, an increase of 25
- South Tyneside: 5,388 was 5,326, an increase of 62
- Stockton: 7,149 was 7,093, an increase of 56
- Sunderland: 10,556 was 10,486, an increase of 70
- York: 5,489 was 5,452, an increase of 37
