A GLAMPING business is celebrating some good news after enduring the challenges of Covid-19 restrictions.

The Wigwam Holidays Sedgewell Barn site near Northallerton has been granted planning permission to almost double its glamping cabins.

The site currently includes six self-contained cabins and now plans to add an additional five, including an accessible cabin suitable for wheelchair users.

Catherine Tweddle, co-owner of the business, said: “We are delighted at the news.

"It comes at the end of a very challenging year for the tourism industry and we are now looking forward to installing the new cabins, plus hot tubs, here in our very rural, ‘hidden gem’ location.”

The site opened in July 2017 with just two cabins, expanding to six in 2018.

It has since gone from strength to strength and the Tweddle family recently converted redundant farm buildings to create wedding or special event venues.

The business was also a finalist in this year’s White Rose Awards.
