A HOLIDAY operator is promising customers a 'once-in-a-lifetime' trip as it unveils a new route between Newcastle and Iceland.

Jet2 has announced new flights between Newcastle Airport and Keflavík International Airport, near Reykjavik, for the winter period next year.

The operator, which has unveiled a number of new routes from the North-East in the past month, said it would be launching ten trips to the majestic country.

It said customers will be able to choose dates between October 2021 and April 2022 to visit the country and see the Northern Lights.

A Jet2 spokesperson said: "This programme of dedicated trips gives holidaymakers in the region great choice and flexibility for those wanting to experience everything this Nordic island has to offer.

"Whether it is the cityscape of Reykjavik, the spectacular Northern Lights, or the stunning Golden Circle and its geothermal lagoons, spas and waterfalls, Iceland provides an incredible variety of things for customers to experience and see."

The operator said customers could either choose a flight-only package, or choose a holiday package which includes a hotel stay.
