A MAN accused of murdering a toddler is set to go on trial next year.
Grace Thorpe died in hospital last Thursday after suffering injuries in her home in New Marske two days earlier.
Adam Jackson has appeared in Teesside Crown Court accused of murdering the two-year-old.
The 26-year-old did not enter a plea during the short hearing this afternoon.
Cleveland Police were called to a property on Dale Street, New Marske, on Tuesday morning to a report of an injured child.
The young girl was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment, where she died today.
The small seaside town of New Marske was in mourning after the devastating news of the two-year-old's death spread around the close-knit community.
On Thursday night, dozens of candles were lit to celebrate the youngster's short life.
Jackson, of Dale Street, New Marske, is due to go on trial on July 26 next year.
He was remanded in custody until his next hearing.
