A CYCLIST was injured after being hit by a pick-up truck trailer - and police believe the driver may not even know about it.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident that happened on Station Road in Thirsk, opposite Tesco, around 7.25am on Monday November 9.

It involved a red pick-up stlye vehicle towing a cattle/sheep trailer and a pedal cyclist.

The cyclist, a 36-year-old man, was knocked off his bike as the vehicle was overtaking him and was hit by the trailer.

He received minor injuries as a result.

The red-pick up failed to stop at the scene and its driver may not be aware a collision had occurred.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"In particular, we are appealing for information about the red pick up and trailer and keen to identify the vehicle and driver."

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Tc149 Garbutt.
