THREE people have been arrested within 30 minutes of a report than an elderly man had cash stolen from him.
The 77-year-old man had just withdrawn the cash from an ATM on Stockton High Street when it was snatched, police said.
The incident was reported just after 8am today.
A member of the public reported that two men and woman had grabbed money the victim had just withdrawn from the cash machine.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "The caller kindly sat with the 77-year-old man - who was uninjured but very shocked and shaken - until officers arrived. With the help of CCTV operators, the three suspects were followed and located and arrested at 8.25am."
Two men, aged 27 and 31, and a 29-year-old woman are in police custody and are being questioned.
Inquiries are ongoing.
