MORE than 1,300 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the North-East and North Yorkshire.

There have been 10 deaths in North East hospitals.

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust reported two deaths in the last 24 hours, Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust reported one death, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust reported four deaths and South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust reported three deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to Government health figures, published by Public Health England, a further 162 people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday.

The total number of deaths reported in the UK today came to a total of 58,925 with Covid-19 on the death certificate.

While there has been 46,853 deaths within 28 days of getting a positive test in total.

In total there were 136 deaths in the last 24 hours in the UK, with people testing positive for the virus within 28 days.

Here is a breakdown of new cases in the region, according to figures published today:

County Durham: 12,307, was 12,116, a rise of 191.

Darlington: 2,085, was 2,046, a rise of 39.

Gateshead: 5,129, was 5,042, a rise of 87.

Hartlepool: 2,380, was 2,341, a rise of 39.

Middlesbrough: 3,669, was 3,596, a rise of 73.

Newcastle: 9,030, was 8,911, a rise of 119.

North Tyneside: 4,271, was 4,118, a rise of 153.

North Yorkshire: 8,425, was 8,228, a rise of 197.

Northumberland: 5,518, was 5,442, a rise of 76.

Redcar and Cleveland: 2,644, was 2,568, a rise of 76.

Stockton: 4,780 was 4,577, a rise of 203. (NOTE: Stockton's data increase was from Saturday not yesterday).

Sunderland: 7,536, was 7,425, a rise of 111.

York: 3,824, was 3,770, a rise of 54.
