A FUN fair which has sparked fears it may lead to a virus spike is going ahead – despite police concerns.
Turners Funfairs, based in Durham, is holding its half term fun fair in Bewick Crescent Car Park, in Newton Aycliffe, from Saturday, October 24 to Wednesday, October 28.
Owner Brett Turner, claims the fun fair is "safer than going to Tesco" and said he is conforming to all safety procedures and guidelines.
Police have previously said they do not support the event and have now issued safety advice for anyone planning to attend.
A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “We have liaised with our colleagues in Durham County Council and they have advised us that the fun fair event planned for Saturday, October 24, in Newton Aycliffe will be taking place as expected.
"Our advice to anyone attending is to ensure they regularly sanitise their hands, wear a face mask and maintain social distancing.”
