A FURTHER 923 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the North-East and North Yorkshire in the last 24-hours.

This brings the total number of cases recorded in the region to 55,943.

There have been a total of 80 daily deaths within 28 days of positive test in the UK.

Bringing the total number of deaths to 43,726 within 28 days of positive test.

The Government also said 741,212 have now tested positive for coronavirus up until today.

County Durham: 9,007 was 8,860, an increase of 147.

Darlington: 1,448 was 1,425, an increase of 23.

Gateshead: 3606 was 3,557, an increase of 49.

Hartlepool: 1,717 was 1,680, an increase of 37.

Middlesbrough: 2597 was 2,542, an increase of 55.

Newcastle: 7,105 was 7,009, an increase of 96.

North Tyneside: 3,011 was 2,974, an increase of 37.

North Yorkshire: 5,970 was 5,853 an increase of 177.

Northumberland: 4,228 was 4,183, an increase of 75.

Redcar and Cleveland: 1,777 was 1,735, an increase of 24.

South Tyneside: 2,971 was 2,942, an increase of 29.

Stockton: 3,072 was 3,002, an increase of 70.

Sunderland: 5,649 was 5,572, an increase of 77.

York: 2,773 was 2,686, an increase of 87.
