EMERGENCY services including the police, Coastguard and Lifeboat crew attended an incident on Tynemouth beach this morning.
The Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade confirmed that they were called to Tynemouth Longsands at 7.50am.
They were drafted in by HM Coastguard to assist Northumbria Police with the incident.
A Brigade spokesman said: "11 team members attended and were on scene until just before 10am when the call was concluded."
