YORK will be put into Tier 2 of the Government's coronavirus alert levels - York Outer MP Julian Sturdy says.
Mr Sturdy has told BBC York the city will go into Tier 2 - the governments High level of the covid alert system.
The move means tougher restrictions for the city - including a ban on households mixing indoors, including in pubs and restaurants.
Outdoors, you can meet in groups of up to 6 people.
Businesses and venues are NOT asked to close under Tier 2 and the national guidelines on shutting at 10pm, wearing face coverings and operate in a Covid-secure manner, including restrictions on table service and group bookings.
The city's MPs were told about the move by ministers.
York's case rate continues to rise.
The case rate was at 247.37 per 100,000 people on October 12.
And yesterday the council's director of public health Sharon Stoltz said there are more than 30 people in York Hospital with coronavirus.
