A THREE tier system of coronavirus restrictions has started today and a new tool is available to help people work out which rules apply to them.
The Government released its postcode checker so people can find out whether they are in a tier one, tier two or tier three area.
The NHS Covid-19 app will also tell you what the current risk level is according to your postcode.
The system came into force today, at a minute past midnight.
Designed to "simplify" lockdown rules, three tiers ranging from medium to very high now apply to every part of the country.
The entire North-East region has been placed into tier two with a local covid alert level of high.
Meanwhile, the North Yorkshire region has been placed into tier one restrictions with a local covid alert level of Medium.
To aid people’s understanding of the system, the Government has released a postcode checker.
