A DERELICT nightclub in Darlington town centre was damaged in a fire during the night.
The incident at the old Plastered Parrot club, on Commercial Street, was reported to emergency services at about midnight.
Two fire appliances from Darlington and an appliance and the aerial ladder platform from Bishop Auckland were deployed to tackle the fire.
A spokesperson for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said crews left the scene at about 4.30am and the premises was boarded back up.
The venue had been closed recently after many relaunches and name-changes through the years uncluding Mr Bojangles, Cactus Jacks, Zhivagos, The Lounge, and Buffalo Joe’s.
