A 16-YEAR-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences after making off from police in a vehicle.
Officers on patrol in the Newport area of Middlesbrough attempted to stop the vehicle, which had no registration plates, on Union Street at around 9.50pm yeysterday (Wednesday, September 30).
The driver made off before the vehicle collided with a lamp post on the corner of Union Street.
He then fled on foot and was chased by officers, who detained him on Amber Street.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs, failing to stop, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, disqualified driving and no insurance.
He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
