A STOLEN phone was recovered and a man arrested within one hour of the theft being reported.
On Tuesday, police received a report of a car window being smashed on Albert Road, Middlesbrough, around 11.30am.
It was reported a man had reached in and taken a black iPhone from the car, before making off from the scene.
A short time later, officers received a report of a shop theft at Iceland and a man, who had allegedly been attempting to steal shower gels, was found in possession of a black iPhone matching the reported stolen phone.
A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and theft from a shop.
He remains in police custody at this time.
