EMERGENCY services were called the scene of a two-car crash in Darlington this lunchtime.

Three fire engines, an ambulance and several police vehicles attended the incident at the mini-roundabout joining Newton Lane with Eggleston View in Branksome.

An Audi A1 and a Vauxhall Corsahad collided at the junction and firefighters used cutting gear to release a female occupant trapped in one of the cars.

The roundabout was blocked to traffic for over an hour as police vehicles blocked the roads while officers turned cars away from the area.

The incident was cleared by 2pm, with the damaged white car having been moved onto a grass verge by firefighters to enable traffic to pass freely.
