A FURTHER 320 people have tested positive for Covid in the North-East and North Yorkshire.

NHS England said a further 10 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 29,918.

Patients were aged between 60 and 97 and all had known underlying health conditions. The deaths were between September 24 and September 27.

The Government said that as of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 4,044 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, taking the overall number of cases confirmed to 439,013

In the North-East and North Yorkshire: County Durham: 4640 was 4,619, an increase of 21. Darlington: 785 was 778, an increase of 7. Gateshead: 2142 was 2,121, an increase of 21. Hartlepool: 908 was 903, an increase of 5. Middlesbrough: 1,434 was 1,420, an increase of 14. Newcastle: 3,148 was 3,072, an increase of 76. North Tyneside: 1,573 was 1,549, an increase of 24. North Yorkshire: 3,630 was 3,595, an increase of 35. Northumberland: 2496 was 2,397, an increase of 33. Redcar and Cleveland: 944 was 932, an increase of 12. South Tyneside: 1,792 was 1,780, an increase of 12. Stockton-on-Tees: 1,381 was 1,357, an increase of 24. Sunderland: 3,098 was 3,070, an increase of 28. York: 1,254 was 1,246, an increase of 22.
