A CROW bar attack near a primary school just before home time has a left man with multiple head injuries.

Police were called to reports of two men fighting at the roundabout, near Coxhoe Primary School, in County Durham, shortly before 2.15pm on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “It is believed the suspect approached the victim and struck him multiple times with a crow bar.

“The victim sustained multiple injuries to his head and was taken to hospital.

“The suspect made off prior to police arrival however officers located him shortly after.”

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and affray.

He has since been release under investigation.
