THE following cases are among those heard recently at Teesside Magistrates’ Court.

JAMES COONEY, 22, of Tindale Close, Yarm, was fined £120 and banned from driving after pleading guilty to driving while above the legal limit for alcohol. He was told to pay costs of £40 and a victim surcharge of £34 and was banned from driving for 12 months.

IAN DOBLE, 38, of Dixon Street, Skelton, was jailed for six months after admitting a number of offences, including drug driving, possession of a bladed article – namely a screw driver which had been adapted with Stanley knife blades – the theft of oil from Lodge filling station, breaching an order and making off without paying for fuel. He also admitted stealing a purse, bag and lighter from a woman in Middlesbrough. He was banned from driving for 36 months.

MAXAMED CALI SALIM, 45, of Aire Street, Middlesbrough, was jailed for 20 weeks after pleading guilty to theft. He admitted to seven counts of stealing alcohol, with a total value of more than £600, from a number of shops, as well as £150 worth of chocolate.

EMMANUEL ANDY MARRIOTT, of Woodbine Close, Great Ayton, was given a community order after admitting to damaging a car and a mobile phone. He caused £2,551.62 worth of damage to the windscreen and door panel of a Mercedes Benz. The curfew order means he must remain at home between 8pm and 6am for a three month period.

A restraining order was also made preventing him to contact the owner of the vehicle. He was told to pay compensation of £270.

LIAM DOWNING, of Moffatt Road, Hartlepool was fined for being found in possession of cocaine. The 25-year-old pleaded guilty and was fined £120. He must pay costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge.

ISOBELLE STAR LEWIS, of William Street, Redcar, was fined £120 after admitting to stealing air fresheners and cleaning products, valued at £153, from Home Bargains. The 26-year-old pleaded guilty and will have to pay compensation of £153.

RAYMOND PEARCE, 38, of Swinbourne Road, Cleveland, was charged with driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and without insurance. He pleaded guilty and was given eight points on his licence and has been disqualified until he passes a test. He was fined £120 and told to pay £32 to victim services.

JOHN BERRY, of Ampleforth Road, Billingham, was given an 18-month conditional discharge for using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman. The 60-year-old was told to pay compensation of £200 after admitting the offence.

THOMAS FITZGERALD, 40, of Wilfred Grove, Nottingham, was fined £80 after being found in possession of a quantity of cannabis. He was told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.

NICOLA LOUISE MCCARTHY, 28, of Boosebeck Road, North Skelton, was fined £280 after admitting to drink driving, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence. She was banned from driving for 18 months and told to pay costs of £85 and the £34 victim surcharge.

PAUL ROWBOTHAM, of Pine Grove, Hartlepool, was told to pay £300 in compensation after causing £2,000 worth of damage to a woman’s car. The 29-year-old was fined £120 after pleading guilty.

JOHN WILLIAM DIXON, 39, of Herrons Pool Close, Hartlepool, was fined £40 for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour. He pleaded guilty. He was also given a 12-month conditional discharge for possession of cannabis and urinating in a police vehicle, for which he was told to pay compensation of £100.

LAURA JANE WALLACE, 29, of Penrith Road, Middlesbrough, was fined £150 for driving while above the legal limit for alcohol. She pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for 12 months. She also admitted driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and without insurance.

AIDAN CALLUM LEE, 25, of Stockton Road, Hartlepool was given a 12-month conditional discharge after pleading guilty to possession of a quantity of cannabis. He has to pay costs of £85 and £34 to fund victim services.

KAI AARON BARKER, 24, of Hive Close, Stockton was jailed for 32 weeks after admitting to assaulting a woman. A restraining order was made so he cannot contact his victim. He also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance and his licence was endorsed. He was told to pay £128 to fund victim services.

JAMES TWIDALE, 20, of Harrow Street, Hartlepool, was given a 12-month conditional discharge after causing damage to two windows, a door and a wooden garden gate at a property in Hartlepool, causing £1,500 worth of damage.

He pleaded guilty and was told to pay compensation of £480.
