STUDENTS are self-isolating after a confirmed coronavirus case at a North-East secondary school.

Public Health England confirmed that a Year 9 student of Nunthorpe Academy, Middlesbrough, tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday (24 September).

In a statement, the school said that a "small number" of children were in direct, prolonged contact with the confirmed case, and that those students have been sent home to isolate for 14 days, following government guidelines.

The school remains open and parents have been asked to continue sending their children to school if they remain well.
