ONE of the region's biggest scare events has cancelled its 2020 Halloween event.

Scream Factory at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, has posponed its 2020 event due to the rise in Covid cases.

Organisers took to social media to share the news with horror lovers.

In a Facebook statement the company said: "Unfortunately we have just received the worst news imaginable. A message we hoped we would never have to write.

"As you are all aware we have taken this current pandemic very seriously and despite our best efforts to broadcast how safe the event would be for staff and visitors, it is with huge regret we have to announce scream factory 2020 has to be postponed.

"We have worked closely with a health and safety advisory group, stay safe hospitality, along with the council to ensure we took every precaution necessary to meet with the current guidelines provided by the government. Unfortunately Public Health have notified us that all events will be pulled due to the rise in Coronavirus cases.

"As a small family ran business this announcement has come as a great blow, a tremendous amount of effort and great expense has been invested in the preparation for Scream Factory 2020 and this years event promised, despite the current situation, to have been the biggest and best show yet.

"We are truly disappointed and can only imagine how you must be feeling at this news. We fully appreciate the trust in which you have given to us but this decision is beyond our control.

"All those who have purchased tickets will be transferred to our 2021 event."
