We have enjoyed a great response to our Me and My Motor feature.

Each week we will chat to someone with a passion for vehicles – from classics to hot hatches and from motorcycles to vintage.

To tell us about your vehicle or vehicles and share your motoring tales with our readers, go to www.northernecho.co.uk/meandmymotor

This week, we talk to Peter Smith of Chester-le-Street.

What vehicle/s do you own (model/year), and for how long?
I’ve owned this Renault 5 GT Turbo, F-registration for about six years.

Why did you decide to buy this particular vehicle?
I had one in the 1990s and have loved them since.

What do you mainly use it for, and do you take it to shows or events?
I use it when the weather is nice, and I also take it to a couple of shows.

What does your family think about your passion for vehicles?
My family love it. When our grandson was diagnosed with cancer five years ago he claimed the car as his, so now he sits in the passenger seat until he’s old enough to drive.
