FEARS are growing for the safety of a footballer who has been reported missing by his family.
Former Chester-le-Street Town FC midfielder Kieran Megran was last seen over a week ago.
The family of the 31-year-old, from Newton Aycliffe, has reported his disappearance to Durham Constabulary.
A spokesman for the force said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of the 31-year-old who hasn’t been in touch with his family for a week.
“Mr Megran is from Newton Aycliffe but is believed to have travelled outside of the County Durham area.”
“He is described as being around 5ft 11in with short brown hair and a beard.”
Mr Megran previously played at youth level for Middlesbrough and Darlington before joining Chester-le-Street Town Youths in 2006-07.
He also played at Northern League level with Bishop Auckland, Consett, Esh Winning, Sunderland RCA and Crook Town.
His former club, Chester-le-Street, is urging people to look out for him.
Anyone who has seen or heard from Mr Megran is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 101.
