A TUTOR group at an east Durham school has been asked to self-isolate after a student tested positive for coronavirus
A spokesperson for Seaham High School in Seaham confirmed that a Year 7 student had tested positive for the virus and they had been working with Public Health England.
In a statement, the school said: "We have received notification that one of our students in Year 7 has tested positive for Covid-19.
"We have worked with Public Health England and on their advice made the decision to ask one tutor group to self isolate.
"A small number of other students have been identified as having had close contact with the student, who has tested positive.
"They will also be required to self-isolate as part of the track and trace process. All parents of identified students have been notified.
"The school remains open to all other students. Due to our bubble system the number affected are relatively low.
"We will provide further information throughout the day. The parents of any students affected are being contacted directly."
