POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a driver failed to stop when they collided with a cyclist in Widnes.

An 18-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital following the incident and remains in a serious but stable condition.

The teenager was riding along Milton Road toward Riverside College this afternoon, Thursday, between 3.30pm and 4pm, when a grey Ford Kuga collided with him.

The driver failed to stop and turned left into Cameron Road.

DC Tina Jackson said: "We would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has information that will help us identify the driver to contact us.

"If you were in the area at the time and have dashcam footage you can submit it on our website.

"Please make sure you reference IML 806505."
