THE North-East is set to see a sharp rise in temperatures today - with some places expected to hit 24c this afternoon.
Parts of County Durham, Darlington and Teesside will reach around 23c between 3pm and 5pm today.
Parts of North Yorkshire will see the mercury hit 24c in some places, with mainly areas in and around York seeing the warmest weather.
It comes as the UK will see temperatures hit 30c in some places, as the 'rule of six' lockdown restrictions come into force.

From today, it is illegal to meet in groups of more than six people with the threat of fines for anyone found flouting the law.
The new rules apply both inside and outside, meaning that large groups in parks will be banned from meeting together in the heat.

A few early mist or shallow fog patches, otherwise a dry and sunny day with light winds. Becoming warm or very warm into the afternoon. Maximum temperature 24c.
Tonight:
Remaining warm through the evening with clear skies. Staying dry and clear overnight. Some mist or fog patches developing, especially through the Tyne Valley by dawn. Minimum temperature 10c.
Tuesday:
Another warm day with light winds. Dry for most, with hazy sunshine through the morning after any mist or fog clears. Cloud thickening during the afternoon bringing a little rain. Maximum temperature 23c.
