Two men have been sentenced to nearly five years in total for burglary.

Macauley Wright, 21, from Stockton and Keaton Gibson, 19, from Thornaby were both sentenced at Teesside Crown Court yesterday (Thursday) for a burglary and assault (Actual Bodily Harm).

The incident occurred on Eltham Crescent in Thornaby on Saturday, December 14 when both men entered the property and assaulted a 22-year-old male victim by punching and kicking him and then stealing his TV and phone before making off from the scene.

Wright was sentenced to two-and-a-half years for burglary to run concurrently with 20 months for the assault.

Gibson was sentenced to two years for burglary to run concurrently with 18 months for the assault.

Detective Constable Kev Middleton, from Stockton CID, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim, who was not only attacked in his own home, but was also knocked unconscious as a result of the disgraceful behaviour shown by Macauley and Keaton.

“I hope the sentences today provide some form of comfort to the victim knowing that justice has been served and they will be paying for their crimes behind bars.”
