AN animal rescue charity is appealing for help to pay for urgent surgery to save the life of one of their dogs.

Tender Care Rescue, at Annfield Plain, near Stanley, is trying to raise £10,000 to help Cety, who was found abandoned in a field after a road traffic accident in February.

Her hip was fractured and dislocated and the bone of her front leg was snapped in half.

A vet has plated and pinned her front leg and looked after her until he could find someone to take her.

She arrived at Tender Care in July.

A spokesman for the charity said: “When she arrived we could see her mobility was greatly reduced and it was heart breaking to watch her trying to get about. We needed to look at options to improve her quality of life.

“Sadly her mobility continues to deteriorate and she is in discomfort and pain, so it would be unfair to allow her to continue to suffer long term like this. Her hip is still dislocated, therefore, surgery is required.

“Cety also needs possible surgery to give her use of her front paw.

“For her back leg either a full hip replacement or a head and neck excision to repair her hip is required.

“We need all the help we can get and are appealing to everyone to open their hearts and wallets to make this challenge possible.”
