BENEFIT fraud is amongst cases heard at Teesside Magistrates this week, which is otherwise dominated by driving offences.

STEVEN BARRY (EDWARDS), 40, from Church Drive, Middlesbrough, was given a community order after committing benefit fraud between November 2012 and April 2013, and April 2013 and September 2015.

By not telling the Department for Works and Pensions that he was now able to work, the man claimed Incapacity Nenefit for the earlier charge and Employment Support Allowance for the more recent.

He must also pay £60 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JAMIE CLAYTON, of Dalby Close, Billingham, was fined £400 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 month for driving whilst under the influence of alcohol, exceeding the prescribed limit.

The 27-year-old, who consumed so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath exceeded the prescribed limit, was ordered to pay a £40 surcharge to find victims services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

SAM GIBSON, of Fieldfare Road, Hartlepool, was given a £500 fine for driving with 120 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood – exceeding the prescribed limit.

The man, 30, who also disqualified from holding or obtaining driving licence for 14 months, must also pay £50 to fund victims services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

GENE RICHARDSON, of Georges Terrace, Saltburn, was fined £120 and banned from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 18 months for drink driving.

The 46-year-old must also pay £34 to victims services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

ROSIE WAUGH, of Newbury Road, Saltburn, was handed an £80 fine after drink driving.

The 21-year-old, who has been disqualified from driving for 12 months, must also pay £34 to victims services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JACK KADEN CARLSSON, of Victoria Gardens, Stockton, was charged for driving under the influence of a controlled drug, namely Delta-9-hydracannabinol, which exceeded the specified limit.

The man, 18, was fined £120, ordered to pay £32 to victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

ROBERT JOHN BELL, 41, of Lumley Road, Redcar, was fined £120 for driving under the influence.

The man was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months and ordered to pay £32 to victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The man was handed a separate £40 fine for possessing cannabis.

RYAN BRADLEY HUGILL, of Cranberry, Middlesbrough, was fined £80 for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, around a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.

The 30-year-old must also pay £34 to victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

MARK DENNIS, of Ayton Crescent, Middlesbrough, was fined £200 for driving under the influence of alcohol that exceeded the prescribed limit.

The 37-year-old, who has been disqualified from driving for 12 months, must also pay £32 to fund victim services and £620 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
