STUDENTS at Teesside High School are celebrating after securing an outstanding set of A-level results, including a 100 per cent A-level pass rate.

56 per cent of all entries at the 3-18 school in Eaglescliffe secured the highest possible A* or A grades, more than double last year’s North-East average.

In addition, almost 50 per cent of all Teesside High School Sixth Form students secured a straight set of A*-As, allowing them to progress to some of the most competitive universities in the country.  Every single Year 13 pupil received their first choice university place through UCAS.

An impressive 71 per cent of all entries at Teesside High were awarded prestigious high grades (A*-B).

Kirsty Mackenzie, head techer at Teesside High School, said: “I want to pass on my congratulations to our wonderful Year 13 students for an incredible set of A-level results, achieved in very unusual circumstances.

“Results of this calibre continue to rival some of the most selective schools in the region, a huge testament to our fantastic team of teaching and support staff who work with pupils of all abilities and inspire them to achieve above and beyond their potential.

The Northern Echo:

“In a very unique academic year, our school community has truly risen to the challenge. Our students’ dedication, resilience and excellent attitude to learning, whether in the classroom or distance learning from home, has paid off today.

“Every student deserves to be proud of not only their academic achievements, but the skills and qualities they have shown over two very challenging years of study.

“We are bidding a fond farewell to valued members of our school family today, some who have been at Teesside High School since Nursery.

“Our grateful thanks goes to our parents for their invaluable support, particularly through the last few months.”
