A HOSPICE has received a grant of more than £9,000 for new specialised reclining chairs in their in-patient unit.

St Leonard’s Hospice in York, which provides care to people with life-limiting conditions throughout North Yorkshire, has seen a significant increase in its number of patients as a result of the pandemic.

The donation was made by the Morrisons Foundation, the charitable arm of the supermarket which awards grants to charities across Britain.

Jenny Brandom director of clinical services at the hospice, said: “The patients and staff at St Leonard’s Hospice are very grateful to the Morrisons Foundation for providing the funding to purchase four riser recliner chairs for patients on our In-patient Unit.”

“As the chairs are electronically adjustable they make a significant difference to our patients’ well-being by aiding relief from pain and providing the opportunity for a change of environment."
