ORGANISERS of a new music festival who hoped to bring big name acts to the region will this Saturday host a virtual get together instead.

The inaugural Lamplight Festival was supposed to be welcoming Kaiser Chiefs, Deacon Blue and local indie stars Frankie and The Heartstrings to Mowbray Park in Sunderland.

It was forced to reschedule to next summer due to the Covid-19 pandemic so to thank music fans for their early support a virtual event will be held this weekend.

Scottish chart stormers Tide Lines will be performing Deacon Blue’s classic ‘Dignity’ in full and fans can also expect a rendition of ‘Real Gone Kid’ by Manchester group Big Society, who will also take part in an exclusive Zoom Q&A session.

Frankie and The Heartstrings’ Dave Harper will be donning his chef’s hat this Saturday and will host a food tutorial for the region’s curry lovers and the hotly tipped Kaiser Chief’s Favourite Zuzu has pledged a beautifully delivered reading from The Rebel Women.

The content will be available via the festival’s social media channels:
