RESIDENTS are being asked for their views on implementing an order to help prevent anti-social behaviour at a popular beauty spot.

During the hot weather in early summer, Richmond Falls and The Batts was blighted by visitors drinking, inhaling nitrous oxide, littering and causing a nuisance.

Richmondshire District Council has already installed extra cameras to monitor the area and is working with the county council on enhanced parking enforcement in the area.

It is now asking for residents' views on the possible implementation of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).

This would give designated officers the power to stop anti-social behaviour, fine people for unruly behaviour and prevent certain activities.

Before a PSPO can be put in place, the council are required to undertake a public consultation.

Leave a comment here by the September 7 deadline.

If given the green light, the order would come into force in the autumn.
