Police have issued an appeal after a 13-year-old girl was assaulted in Bishopsgarth, Stockton.

The incident happened at around 7.15pm on Monday, August 3 after a large group of youths gathered in a cut next to the Rosedale Centre in Bishopsgarth.

A 13-year-old girl was pushed to the ground, causing grazing to her knees, and was punched or kicked in the back.

Enquiries are ongoing in relation to the assault.

PC Hannah Parkin said: “We are aware that there have been videos circulating on social media, apparently taken by youths who were gathered at Bishopsgarth Park at the time of the incident. We want to make clear that assaults like this one will not be tolerated and anyone who may be able to help the investigation is strongly urged to come forward and speak with police.”

Officers are aware that there have been videos of the incident circulating on social media and anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or may have information regarding it, are asked to contact PC Hannah Parkin from Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 125729.
