During July, Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out 14 drugs warrants across the town, resulting in thousands of pounds worth of drugs taken off the streets of Middlesbrough.

The team arrested 17 people in connection with drugs offences and seized 125 cannabis plants and thousands of pounds worth of class A drugs, including cocaine and amphetamine.

Inspector Darren Birkett said: “Throughout July we have been very proactive in tackling those dealing in drugs in Middlesbrough.

“We have arrested 17 people in connection with drugs offences and we have removed thousands of pounds worth of class A drugs, and cannabis, from potentially ending up on the streets of Middlesbrough.

“We couldn’t do this without the help of our local communities who have come forward with information and I’d encourage them to continue to do so. These raids have shown that we will act on the information which is given to us.”

The warrants carried out included:

  • A drugs warrant carried out on Essex Street in Newport on July 31, whereby suspected amphetamine was recovered and a 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.
