CLEVELAND Police is appealing for a driver who fled the scene of a collision in Hartlepool last night and may have head injuries.

The collision happened on Westbrook Avenue at approximately 8.55pm on Saturday, August 1.

Police are appealing for the driver of a dark coloured VW 54 plate Golf, who fled the scene, to come forward as there are concerns for his or her welfare.

The Golf travelled from Southbrooke Avenue into Westbrooke Avenue and was then in collision with a white Renault Traffic van, which was driven by a 29-year-old man.

The Golf then left the carriageway and collided with a garden wall.

Two passengers, one male and one female and both in their 20s, suffered injuries and are still in local hospitals.

The Golf's driver left the scene.

The driver of the Renault suffered minor injuries and was treated at the University Hospital of North Tees, then released.

Initial inquiries suggest the driver of the Golf suffered head and/or facial injuries in the collision.

Officers were urging them to come forward to can establish their wellbeing, but on Monday, August 3, said they "no longer have reason to be concerned for this person's welfare".
