A CYCLIST who died after a collision with a van has been named as 58-year-old Michael Waistell.
Mr Waistell, from Hartlepool, died after he was involved with a collision with a white Transit van, which failed to stop.
It happened at about 6.45am in Mowbray Road, Hartlepool.
Mr Waistell’s black Carerra mountain bike was in collision with a white Ford Transit.
Mr Waistell suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Specially trained officers are supporting his family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
Police investigating the collision are now appealing for anyone who may have seen a white Transit van with a blue logo in the area of Catcote Road, Fens or Owton Manor between 6am and 6:30am this morning, to contact them.
Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone who may have dash cam footage which could assist the investigation, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 123481.
