THE following cases were among those heard at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee Magistrates’ Court during the last week.

MICHAL SMOLA was fined £660 after he was caught acting drunk and disorderly at Darlington Railway Station on May 7, of this year. The 34-year old, from Grosvenor Road, Aston, was also ordered to pay £66 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

THOMAS PETER HENDERSON 31, of Murton, was given a £80 fine after he breached a restraining order on July 27, of this year. The Nelson Street resident was also made to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

SYED SAJJAD MIAH, 29, who gave his address as a hostel in Chester-le-Street, appeared in court after he stole a television on July 10, of this year. Miah indicated a plea of guilt and was discharged conditionally for 12 months. He was also made to pay £22 to fund victim services.

JOHN ROBERT SPEIGHT, of Bishop Auckland, was handed a community order after he used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man on January 31, of this year. The 43-year old Lusby Crescent resident was also made to pay £90 to fund victim services and £600 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

THOMAS JOSEPH STOKES, 20, of Hawthorn Street, Easington Colliery, appeared in court accused of stealing at palette lift from Asda on April 30, of this year. Strokes

was found guilty and handed a community order by the court. He was also ordered to pay £90 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

ROBERT ASKEW, of Wood View, Esh Winning, was found guilty by magistrates of drunk and disorderly behaviour in Durham city centre on July 29, of this year. The 34-year-old pleaded guilty and was handed a community order.

MICHAEL VERNON AGGETT, from Darlington, was discharged conditionally for 12 months after he damaged a bathroom window on January 19, of this year, with intent to destroy or damage. The 41-year-old pleaded guilty and was made to pay £20 to fund victim services. Aggett of Clifton Road was also ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

WAYNE STEVEN CARR, 30, who gave his address as a farm in Shotton Colliery was fined £120 after he damaged a window on June 20, of this year, with intent to destroy or damage. Carr pleaded guilty and was given a £34 fee to fund victim services and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

SHAIN SALTER, 22, appeared before magistrates accused of destroying a motor vehicle with intent to destroy on October 19, 2019. The Braithwaite Street, Bishop Auckland resident pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £320.94 compensation. He was also up in court for assaulting a woman three days earlier. The court found him guilty and he was ordered to pay a further £134 fine and £200 compensation. He indicated a plea of guilt for the crime and was made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

CHRISTOPHER FREDRICK WEBSTER, of Freville Street, Shildon, was discharged conditionally for nine months after he was found guilty of stealing washing products , from a shop in Darlington on February 27, of this year. Two days later he stole fabreeze refills and dog collars from Morrisons. The 37-year-old was ordered to pay £40 compensation.

CHRISTOPHER LIDDLE, 48, appeared in court accused of damaging a phone on March 23, of this year, with intent to destroy. The Gartland Road, Sunderland resident, pleaded not guilty but was convicted and handed a community and restraining order. Liddle was also made to pay £150 compensation, alongside a fee to fund victim services and the Crown Prosecution Service.

SAVANNAH CORMACK, 21, of Seaton Close, Easington, was banned from driving for 17 months after she was caught behind the wheel whilst over the legal drink drive limit on June 24, of this year. Cormack pleaded guilty and was handed a £320 fine. She was also made to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JOHN ROBERT NORRIS, from Sunderland appeared in court accused of driving whilst over the legal drink drive limit following an incident on June 28, of this year. The 29-year-old Eden House Road resident, pleaded guilty and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 months and fined £300. Norris was also made to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JOHN PAUL WHEELAN, 40, of Station Road, Easington Colliery, was discharged conditionally for six months after he stole a shopping basket of groceries on April 26, of this year. Wheelan pleaded guilty and was made to pay £22 to fund victim services.

JAKE WARD, of Welbeck Avenue, Darlington, was fined £120 following an incident on December 22, 2019, when he used used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services and a free to the Crown Prosecution Service.
