TWO people were taken to hospital with broken bones following a crash on the A19.

The crash happened at about 7pm last night near to Low Burntoft Farm in Hartlepool, on the southbound carriageway. 

It involved a gold Vauxhall Meriva and a grey Audi A4.

Police said the driver of the Meriva, a man aged in his sixties, suffered a broken collarbone and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.

He remains in hospital whilst receiving treatment.

The driver of the Audi suffered minor injuries and a female passenger, aged in her thirties, suffered a broken ankle.

She was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees and later released.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
